About

Alex Mimlitz

USATF Level 1 coach

Alex Mimlitz is from the suburbs of Chicago and started running to impress his fifth grade crush. He's been exploring trails, summiting mountains, and running almost every day since.

After running for a national-class high school program, he went on to compete in cross country & track at the Division 1 level in Nashville, TN. Alex studied exercise science & business at Belmont University, and started operating running stores at the age of 20. Over the last decade, he has outfitted thousands of runners from all backgrounds and ability levels with the right footwear & gear.

Alex started by coaching his friends in college, and expanding to working with athletes across the entire country from his home in Boise, ID. His athletes range from first time runners and marathoners to ultra marathoners and those competing at the national level. He loves the running community and life lessons that running can teach.

If he's not out pounding the dirt and training for his next ultra, he's probably thinking about it!

sam claypool

RRCA Level 1 coach

Sam Claypool has lived in Columbus, Ohio for the majority of his life, growing up playing competitive soccer and basketball. To be honest, he wasn't a fan of running unless it was in either of those settings, however, he did join the track team his senior year, albeit, exclusively for the social aspect.

After graduating high school, Sam took his talents to Athens, Ohio, where he studied Management Information Systems at Ohio University. Following graduation, he got a job in the Information Systems field at Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, and during that time signed up for the Columbus Marathon on a whim, igniting his passion for running. That passion has led to a handful of successful road and trail races, including a 50k ultramarathon.

Around the same time, he also began his coaching career by taking on the position of a middle school boys soccer coach, which has since progressed into coaching at the high school level. Along with soccer, he began coaching 7th grade basketball last winter as well. Sam's passion of both running and coaching most recently put him in a position to earn his RRCA Level 1 Certification so that he can get to sharing his passion of running with others through coaching!
